NATELCO PROJECT EARNS "GREEN BUILDING OF AMERICA" AWARD
NATELCO PROJECT EARNS "GREEN BUILDING OF AMERICA" AWARD
The Real Estate & Construction Review’s editorial board has selected the winners of its “Green Building of America” awards, and a project with which NATELCO Corporation was involved has been named a winner. The awards honor the most innovative, unique and challenging new “green” projects — projects that are particularly noteworthy and/or that give back to their respective communities. The projects and award winners will be highlighted in the regional edition of Real Estate & Construction Review’s Success Stories-Green Edition both in print and online.
Hired by General Contractor Rand Construction, NATELCO performed electrical work on the Council on Foreign Relations building renovation in Washington DC. The project was designed to receive a Gold Leadership In Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification. The building has earned the EPA designation “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR”, placing it within the top 25 percent of energy efficient buildings. Energy efficient initiatives and upgrades to the building included
- new high performance glass windows
- a lighter building color
- new insulation
- high performance roof
- new moisture control system at exterior wall
- integration of the new high efficiency HVAC&R system
- a recycled storm water irrigation system to irrigate a "green roof"
